Eleven years ago, the Menachem Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem launched its weekly Parshat Hashavua classes, reviving the Torah classes that former Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin had hosted in his home during his lifetime. Parshat Hashavua classes at the Heritage Center are open to the public with lectures broadcasted live on the Heritage Center’s website for the benefit of individuals unable to attend in person.
The Menachem Begin Heritage Center has long held the extended Sonnenfeld family in great esteem. In 2013, a new Lecture Hall was built in honor of Mr. Moshe Sonnenfeld, beloved grandfather of Danielle, a”h, who was awarded the honorary title of Yakir Yerushalayim. The dedication was in appreciation of Sonnenfeld’s efforts on behalf of Etzel during the era preceding the founding of the State and the War of Independence when he fought valiantly in the bloody battle for Ramat Rachel and capture of Sheikh Jarrah, the Police Academy, etc.
In 2015, following the tragic death of Sonnenfeld’s beloved granddaughter Danielle, the Menachem Begin Heritage Center dedicated the weekly Parshat Hashavua class in her memory as a symbol of its deep condolences and respects to the Sonnenfeld family.
